According to reports regarding the government’s latest clampdown on virtual communication, Turks could face up to five years in prison soon for spreading fake news on social media  Proposals due to be put before parliament when it returns in October include punishment of one to five years for disseminating fake news, while those convicted of online insults would face up to two years in jail, the pro-government  Turkiye newspaper reported . There are also plans to establish a Social Media Directorate within the government to monitor online comments. Fake News - Reasons and Impact  Spreading of fake news can result into incorrect people opinion orientation, which in turn causes harm to the society. TV news reports have the role of guiding public opinion, and if fake news appears in news programs, it will not only waste viewers‟ time and energy, reduce their emotional experience, but also hurt the feelings of the masses, and they will feel that they have been deceived.
